8" Gather Hood - 300 x 200mm
The Gather Hood is an essential component designed for seamless installation with 316 and 904 flexible flue liners. Specifically crafted to be used above open fireplaces, this gather hood plays a crucial role in enhancing the efficiency and safety of your chimney system. By creating a larger area for the flow of gases, it ensures that smoke and other combustion by-products are effectively directed into the chimney liner, allowing for safe termination.
It is suitable for appliances with a maximum operating temperature of 600°C (T600 designation), making it ideal for use with wood (with less than 20% moisture), smokeless coal, gas, and oil.
The gather hood includes bottom fixings designed to create a secure transition between the connecting flue system and the flexible flue liner. The connection must be made within the confines of the existing masonry chimney, ensuring that no part of the flexible liner is exposed. A gas-tight seal is achieved using fire cement, ceramic rope or tape, or high-temperature sealant, providing optimal safety and performance.
For long-term efficiency, the chimney system must be designed for easy access to sweeping and maintenance. Regular cleaning, ideally twice a year for solid fuel applications, is recommended to prevent blockages and build-up of deposits. Chimneys should be swept by a competent professional, such as a HETAS-registered sweep. Avoid using chemical cleaners or mild steel tools to maintain the integrity of the stainless steel chimney components.
